After the first speaker stands Philips presented, Bowers & Wilkins releases the Z2, a high-end model with Apple’s Lightning de Apple connector for those who’re looking for the best possible quality.
It may not have the risky design of its older brother, the mythical Zeppelin, but the Bowers & Wilkins Z2 is still very good-looking.
The upper part is steel-made with some rubber parts; the first thing we’ve noticed was the great design and how solid it is, but still small enough to move it around the house without trouble.
Inside the Bowers & Wilkins Z2
Inside it, we can find two 20W speakers with fiberglass cones, the same material used for the cabinet.
On the rear, we can find a Flowport bass port designed to improve the air flow. It features a latest-generation class-D amplifier and an exclusive digital signal processor from Bowers & Wilkins.
Although it has a 3.5-mm port, the Bowers & Wilkins Z2 is designed for Apple devices, physically or through the Lightning connection, with charge features; or with Air Play technology, wirelessly (through Wi-Fi) or through a cable.
This means that, as long it’s connected via Wi-Fi to you device, it can play the music from your iPod, iPhone, iPad, Mac and even Windows systems.
The last two directly from iTunes, since a free app specifically for playing your music from mobile devices is used otherwise. Also, if you have more than one Z2, you can transfer the sound from one to the other.
